Boboman is a grade one-winning son of Kingmambo, bred on an identical cross to the prolific stakes sire Lemon Drop Kid.
Boboman is a grandson of Mr. Prospector and is free of Northern Dancer, so should be well-suited by most Northern Dancer line mares. Kingmambo is responsible for five group or grade one winners out of mares by Northern Dancer’s son, Sadler’s Wells (sire in the U.S. of El Prado). Lemon Drop Kid has already sired grade one winner Christmas Kid out of a mare by Green Desert, one of seven stakes winners he has out of mares from the Danzig line. He has a graded stakes winner out of a mare by Vice Regent (and he has two other stakes winners out of mares by that horse’s son, Deputy Minister, and two more, one graded, out of mares by Deputy Minister’s son, Salt Lake). Lemon Drop Kid also has stakes winners out of mares by Storm Bird, Storm Cat and Storm Cat’s sons, Tabasco Cat and Storm Creek. Other branches of the Northern Dancer line which have worked for Kingmambo, are Nijinsky II; Dixieland Band; The Minstrel, and Try My Best, a brother to El Gran Senor. Mares by Northern Dancer line stallions Summer Squall or Honor Grades would give inbreeding to the outstanding mare, Weekend Surprise.
Lemon Drop Kid’s graded stakes winner Lemon Maid, is out of a mare by Geiger Counter, who is from Boboman’s own Mr. Prospector sire line, and who is out of Thong, also granddam of Kingmambo's broodmare sire, Nureyev. The Thong family can be brought in through the previously mentioned Sadler's Wells (and his brother, Fairy King), Lear Fan, Alysheba, Apalachee and King Pellinore. From another branch of the Mr. Prospector line, he also has a stakes winner out of a mare by Rubiano (by Fappiano).
Lemon Drop Kid has a two-year-old graded stakes winner out of a mare by Pleasant Tap, a son of Pleasant Colony, and grandson of His Majesty (by Ribot). Kingmambo also has two stakes winners, including the group one winner Dubai Destination, out of mares by Alleged (by Hoist the Flag, a son of the Ribot stallion Tom Rolfe). Out of Damascus line mares, Lemon Drop Kid has sired grade one winner Santa Teresita from a Gilded Time mare, and stakes winners from mares by Private Account and his son, Private Terms.
Boboman and Lemon Drop Kid are out of daughters of Seattle Slew, and Lemon Drop Kid has already sired graded stakes winning millionaire Cosmonaut out of a mare by Seattle Slew’s son, Capote. Lemon Drop Kid’s Kentucky Oaks winner Lemons Forever is out of a mare by a son of Grey Dawn II. He also has grade one winners out of mares by Broad Brush and Lord at War; a group winner out of mare by Mark of Esteem (by Darshaan, a son of Shirley Heights); and from the Halo line, a two-year-old graded winner out of a mare by Saint Ballado, and a stakes winner out of a mare by Southern Halo.
